Field Trip

Last week Boston and Preston's pre-school class went on a field trip to Hardy Farms which is a dairy farm here in Brigham City. They got to see how they milked the cows, saw the mother cows about to give birth, and some baby calves. Preston's favorite part were the baby calves. Boston favorite part were the baby calves and"Red" the farmers dog that followed him everywhere. The dog was very friendly and Boston loved petting it and wanted it to come and walk by him. While we were there I had to answer some questions from Preston that I was not prepared for or expecting that day. When we went to see the pregnant mother cows there was one there that the farmer thought would give birth at anytime during that day. Well Preston noticed it's utters. They were really swollen and he asked why they were so big. I tried to explain that it was about to have a baby and that is where the baby would eat from when it was born. Then he asked me where the baby calf was going to come from. He asked "Is it going to come out by its mouth or back there by its butt" I explained what end it would come out and he was ok with my answer. Luckily that is as far as the questioning went. I know someday I will really need to have better answers but that day I was not quite ready for him to be asking me it. I just thought it was kind of a funny story though that maybe I would like to remember.
Boston and Preston would not stand anywhere near the cows and would not let me take their picture by one. According to Preston that is too gross to have your picture taken by a cow. But they each wanted to take a picture of a cow themselves. So here are the pictures that they took to remember their field trip.

Shane asked me those same questions about how Saylor was going to come out. I could only dodge the question for so long before the truth came out. How do you ever prepare? Especially when they are SO YOUNG! What a fun field trip though.

oh the questions...I still have my boys thinking that all babies come out of stomaches since they've seen their birth video and they came out of my stomach. They will die when they learn that is not the case. I figure next year we'll dig into that and puberty. The only things we've covered so far are the differences in between girls and boys...
The boys are sure handsome. Love the preschool shots and the fact they know the Pledge already is cool! I don't think Sage has even learned it and she is on her way into K!
