Big Boy Beds

So recently Preston learned how to climb out of his crib. And what Preston does Boston is sure to copy. We were a little nervous that he was going to fall or get caught in the bars and break something, so we decided that maybe it was time to get them big boy beds. Well our cribs turn into toddler beds so we took off the front of them and made them into beds. When we were done they seemed pretty excited that they could climb in and out of the beds by themselves. They were jumping in the beds and just so happy. Here is a video of them.

Gary and I were a little nervous for bedtime. We were not sure how well they would do and if they would stay in their beds. Boston cried for a few minutes and we could hear his hands on the door trying to get it open. After about a 1/2 hour it was quiet and we went in to see where we would find them. We thought for sure they would not be in their beds, but they were. Boston had climbed back into his bed and gone to sleep. The night seemed to go well. I never heard any crying or anything. But when Gary got up to go to work he went into check on them and this is what he found.

Preston had moved into Boston's bed and somehow Boston was asleep on the floor. Not really sure how that happened and how Boston didn't seem to care. Anyway the only other problem with their new bed situation is that they woke up at 6:30 (way too early) and were trying to get out of the room. Hopefully each night will get better. I was hoping to avoid the big boy beds at least for a little longer but I guess they might as well start getting used to it. If anyone has any ideas on how you got your toddler to sleep in their big beds I would love the input.

I don't know how to keep them in bed either! that is why Cody is still in a crib and proably will be until another baby or something. He loves his crib. Your boys look so big in the BIG beds :)

Wow - way to go already switching them over now. It's always hard for the first few days, but they eventually learn that they need to stay in there. But they will still every so often, get out and fall asleep somewhere random. And with the 2 of them together, I will assume they will play a lot together when they should be sleeping. But just be consistent and it should eventually work out. I never had 2 at a time obviously, but when I converted our crib with each kid, I had a "rail" thingy that i bought that slipped under the mattress and can extend to different lengths. So for the first while, i pretty much extended it so there was only a small opening on one side and that seemed to help them a little bit with staying in. but really there's not a whole lot to do but wait it out until the "novelty" of the new beds wears off! good luck! And i love how high Preston was jumping!

PS - i need to send you those pics i took the other day but just keep forgetting. Maybe later today. . .

no input here but we did first start off by taking the drop side down first like you did but we put the two cribs together to form one big bed. They loved that and stopped climbing out for a couple weeks and then after than got old, it was toddler bed time and so we separated them like you did. It will get better but will take time.

Oh man, that made me laugh. The way you put it made me laugh even harder. I know it won't be cute when our little one gets to that point, their moves were cute. One here, then there.

Good luck with that one! We still can't keep Kaylie in her bed and she'll be four soon!!! Your boys are adorable, you need to come visit us and let us give you the royal treatment you showed us when you let us come crash at your place in Vegas!

Dude, Jeffbob here. What is new with you guys. You said it, it is hard to keep in touch. I'm glad that we have your blog to look at. Your boys are getting big. I can't believe that it has been that long.

I know that you come up here at least once a year. Next time that you are up you had better call us so we can all get together and have the kids play. I am looking for some strapping young boys to arange a marriage for my girls.

Just to let you know your boys are in the running. Well it's good to see that all is well in Knudsenville. Stay in touch Garebob(and Kelly, Boston, and Preston.)

Kelly the boys are so cute, we miss them tons! I love how Preston was getting some major air when he was jumping. Shelby is still pretty danty when she jumps. As far as the bed thing goes it took us about 2 weeks to get Shebly to stay in bed and get good sleep, but now she LOVES her big girl bed and I find her hanging out in it all the time. Miss ya girl, Annie
