Trip to Utah

Ok, so this next post is kind of long. Boston, Preston and I just went to Utah for a week. We left on Saturday, July 19 and came home yesterday. We went to spend some time with my parents. Then my brother came home from his mission and we got to spend time with my whole family. Gary came up Friday, July 25th and spent the weekend. We also got to go up Sunday and see Gary's family. The only one missing there was Steve. So we are sorry we didn't get to see you. We were so glad to get to see everybody. We had a great week but we are also really glad to be home. Here are a few pictures. Sorry it is kind of long, I did try to break it up a little bit.

Marcus is Home

The whole reason we went up to Utah last week was to welcome home my brother Marcus. He had been serving his mission in the Boise, Idaho, Spanish Speaking Mission. He got home on July 24th. We were so glad to have him home. We have missed him so much. We are so proud of the work that he did and the missionary that he was. He did a great job. Here are a couple of pictures from the homecoming. I for some reason did not get any pictures at the airport. I think I was trying to take pictures with my moms camera for her. Me, Marcus, Boston and Preston.

Playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house

Boston and Preston had so much fun while in Leamington. There was so much to keep them entertained. Here are a few pictures of what they were up to.

I turned my back for like 2 seconds and this is what I found. They had gotten into the cupboard and gotten these snacks out and climbed up on the couch to enjoy them. They love their snacks, even though I don't especially love Preston's choice.

Swimming with Grandma and Grandpa Pace.

Boston and Preston got to go for a little ride in Grandpa's big blue truck. My dad has this truck to just take the garbage to dump. It is big and loud but I think that had fun sitting on the seat and going for a ride. Don't worry they didn't go too far without seatbelts, just from the side of the house to the front.

Here is a picture of Boston and then Preston with my mom's dog Chloe. They loved playing with her and for the most part she was pretty patient with them. Every now and then I would find them just laying by her watching what she was doing.

My parents had this new cat that had come into their yard and now won't leave. Preston made this cat his new best friend. Everytime we were outside the cat didn't get a moments peace. It was also very patient. Preston would pick it up around the middle of its belly, he would pull it by the tail, the ears, the legs and the cat never got mad. As soon as he let go it would always come back for more and be rubbing up against his legs just asking for it.

Preston just chilling out in the back yard.

I was so suprised at how quickly Boston warmed up to Marcus. He had never met Marcus, but from the moment he got off the plane Boston went right to him and we would always find him just hanging out with Marcus. Here is a picture of Boston and Uncle Marcus.

We went up to the canyon to have some family pictures taken. Here they are playing by the creek. They had so much fun throwing rocks into the water.

This is Boston and Preston hanging out at the luncheon after Marcus's homecoming. I just thought they looked so cute in their church clothes.

Cousins

Boston and Preston also got to see all of their cousins while in Utah. Here are some picture of the cousins on my side of the family.
Tanna

Isaac

Taylor

Rylee. Ry was being kind of a stinker for the camera so this was the best one that I had.
They also got to see all of their cousins on Gary's side of the family but for some reason I don't have any pictures of them at all. I will have to try to get some from my sister-in-law. I know she was snapping a lot of pictures.
While in Leamington I got to see my cousin Jade. She was up visiting all her family from Los Angeles. I had not seen her for like 6 or 7 years I think. She came over for Sunday dinner. It was so nice to see her and catch up on what had been going on. Here is a picture of my Grandma, Jade, my Mom and me.

Big Boy Beds

So recently Preston learned how to climb out of his crib. And what Preston does Boston is sure to copy. We were a little nervous that he was going to fall or get caught in the bars and break something, so we decided that maybe it was time to get them big boy beds. Well our cribs turn into toddler beds so we took off the front of them and made them into beds. When we were done they seemed pretty excited that they could climb in and out of the beds by themselves. They were jumping in the beds and just so happy. Here is a video of them.

Gary and I were a little nervous for bedtime. We were not sure how well they would do and if they would stay in their beds. Boston cried for a few minutes and we could hear his hands on the door trying to get it open. After about a 1/2 hour it was quiet and we went in to see where we would find them. We thought for sure they would not be in their beds, but they were. Boston had climbed back into his bed and gone to sleep. The night seemed to go well. I never heard any crying or anything. But when Gary got up to go to work he went into check on them and this is what he found.

Preston had moved into Boston's bed and somehow Boston was asleep on the floor. Not really sure how that happened and how Boston didn't seem to care. Anyway the only other problem with their new bed situation is that they woke up at 6:30 (way too early) and were trying to get out of the room. Hopefully each night will get better. I was hoping to avoid the big boy beds at least for a little longer but I guess they might as well start getting used to it. If anyone has any ideas on how you got your toddler to sleep in their big beds I would love the input.

Happy 4th of July!!

I know this is a little late, but for the 4th of July we decided to go to San Diego. We have not been on a vacation since we had Boston and Preston. We had been wanting to take them to a zoo, and since the one here in Las Vegas is totally scarry, we decided on the San Diego Zoo. We left Friday morning and after we got checked into the hotel we took the boys swimming in the swimming pool. They had a lot of fun. They love to jump off the side and have us catch them in the water. We then headed off to the Gas Lamp Quarters in San Diego. We thought this was the best bet to catch some fireworks. We went and saw Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play. They have a nice field. We were sorry we couldn't catch a baseball game while we were there. Here is a picture of me and the boys behind Right Field.
We then walked down by the water and waited for the Fireworks. We had to wait until about 9 p.m. for them to start. By this time the boys were extremely tired (they had not taken an afternoon nap, and had only slept for about an hour that morning in the car on the way down). When the fireworks first started Preston was a little scarred. Everytime they boomed he would give a little cry. Then Preston kept closing his eyes. At first I thought it was to not look at the fireworks, then I realized he was asleep. How can you fall asleep during that, I don't know. Here is a picture of Preston asleep at the fireworks.Boston was so is awe of them. He was just leaning up against Gary with big eyes. He didn't make a sound just watched. I thought I had taken a picture of it but I guess I didn't. It was so cute though. Today we watched the video we took of it and both Boston and Preston were so excited. They kept yelling WOW!. Its funny that we didn't get the same reaction the first time in person. OH well.
Saturday we took them to the zoo. They had a lot of fun. They enjoyed seeing all the animals. Everytime we would come up to an exhibit, they would stand up in the stroller and hold the railing so they could get a good look. I will just post a bunch of the pictures of the things that we saw. It was hard to tell if they had a favorite. They were pretty excited with every animal we came to.

Boston and Preston had a lot of fun at the zoo. It was so cute everytime they saw an animal they would try to make the sound it makes. Alot of animals however say quack quack. But they did get a few others right. After the zoo we went back to the hotel room to take a nap. Everyone was tired from being out in the sun all day. Here is a couple of pictures of Preston and Boston chilling in the hotel eating their McDonalds.

To end the night we went to dinner and then drove around LaJolla. We didn't really have alot of time to spend at the beach as it was kind of a quick trip. I was a little sad about that. I wanted to boys to be able to play in the sand and ocean. Oh well we will have to plan another trip just for the beach. After dinner though we did stop at one of the beaches in LaJolla. We let the boys walk out in the water. They didn't really like it at first. I don't know if it was the cold water or the way the water moved that they didn't like. After a minute Preston kind of decided he liked it and kept wanting to go back in so I was a little sad that we didn't have our swimsuits.

That was the end of our fun trip. We came back this morning and were glad to be home. We hope everyone had a fun 4th of July. We are so lucky and blessed to have our freedom.

P.S. Due to the trip I sadly missed my 10 Year High School Reunion. I can't believe that I have been out of high school that long. I hope everyone that went had a good time. I would love to hear how it was so anyone looking at my blog that went please leave a message and let me know. So far I have not come across any pictures or posts about it yet. Happy 10 Year Reunion all those from good ole Delta High!
